A single stainless steel dop stick with a 90° cone end face and a 6 mm working diameter. The shaft is sized at 1/2 inch for compatibility with the standard quill collet on bench faceting machines.
Stainless steel dop sticks differ from other materials in their thermal behavior under wax-based adhesives; stainless steel is preferred where corrosion is a concern.
Replacement and supplemental dops are typically purchased in mixed sets. Faces should be inspected for square and replaced if peening or coning is observed at the working face.
